Letter in support of Buhl Planetarium as an historic landmark.

Honored members of the Pittsburgh City Council,

By this letter please know that I recommend the Pittsburgh City Council
to approve the original Buhl Planetarium building as an historic
landmark.

The heritage of Pittsburgh, as a center of science and learning, is often obscured by the historical
smoke of steel making.  We are not just an old steel town and we need to be proud of our other
contributions: medicine, science, aviation, education.

Parents take their children to places in the city where they wondered about the past and the
possibilities for the future: the Carnegie Museum, and the Buhl Planetarium.

The long history of this building in the service of public education in
science should be preserved as a monument to Pittsburgh's scientific past.

Sincerely,
Gregg Podnar
